Description
Swim teams can benefit from adding scientific advancements from the last fifty years in teaching technique and measuring technique. The ebook contains extensive information about coaching age group swimming with science. The document explains how to incorporate the ten “deliberate practice” components (of psychologist Dr. Anders Ericsson) and ten biomechanical measurements into a training program. In addition to information about coaching each age group, the ebook includes weekly training schedules and skills checklists.
World record improvement has slowed tremendously. During the first scientific era (approximately 1956-1980), world records improved by a mean of almost two seconds per 100 meters per Olympiad. During the past forty years (1984-2024), world records improved by only one quarter of a second. A second scientific era is needed to achieve the limits of human performance. Specifically, incorporating the ten components of deliberate practice and ten biomechanical analyses into a training program can begin a second scientific era.
